Independent Tertiary Institutions

ITI Newsletter - November 2010

Good afternoon and welcome to the November newsletter from Independent Tertiary Institutions (ITI). ITI is an industry peak body providing a collective voice for a diverse collection of larger, high-quality Private Training Establishments (PTEs).

While the year is beginning to wind down, Wellington is still busy with major changes coming through NZQA (the Targeted Review of Qualifications), TEC (Performance Information and Performance Linked Funding) and the Ministry of Education (Review of PTE Policy Settings), as well a big shakeup in international education. In this newsletter however, we look to highlight some of the many positive stories generated every day in the institutions which belong to ITI.

To help support individuals looking to become involved in the airline, travel and tourism industry, International Travel College has introduced a number of Study Awards worth a total of $22,000 each year. The Media Design School's AdSchool held their annual graduate showcase event which allowed students to display their work directly to key players in the advertising industry.

At New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA), business diploma students get practical, real-life experience to complement their classroom learning. The winner of Laidlaw College's Youngman Essay Contest has been announced with the winning author's entry inspired by a dream his wife had.

Finally, Natcoll have put up a website where people can play (and embed) eight games developed by their students. Oh dear, there goes my afternoon.

Regards
