ITI Newsletter March 2011

Good morning and welcome to the March 2011 newsletter from ITI - Independent Tertiary Institutions. ITI is a recognised peak body providing a collective voice for a number of diverse private training establishments around New Zealand. This monthly newsletter shares a selection of success stories from our members.

In this issue, the International Travel College (ITC) will need to expand its already bulging trophy cabinet after being named one of Asia Pacific's ten best travel trainers by a prestigious international travel industry body. The New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) has announced that is making its ecelearn system available to New Zealand customers. ecelearn is a customised learning management system which even this technically challenged writer thought was easy to use and intuitive.

A number of ITI members have been helping out in Christchurch, including Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design and the Media Design School. In terms of ITI members in Christchurch, classes resumed on 15 March at Laidlaw College while the New Zealand Career College is planning to open on a new site on 4 April. Unfortunately, the Natcoll campus is within the cordon and remains closed. Courses are being re-scheduled and some students have chosen to study at the Natcoll campuses in Auckland and Wellington.

The Rugby World Cup 2011 is rapidly approaching and New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA) are doing their part to ensure the crowds get good service at Eden Park. NZMA have entered an agreement with Eden Park Catering to train stadium staff for this huge event. At the start of April, Bethlehem Tertiary Institute (BTI) will graduate over 100 hundred students. Around 80% of them will be employed in their field within three months of completing their qualification.
